Terms of Service
General terms and conditions for the use of Alfrodin
1. Scope
These terms of service apply to the use of the software “Alfrodin” (hereinafter “Add-In”), offered by Matthias Bauernberger Software, Georg-Erber-Straße 10, 4060 Leonding, Austria (hereinafter “Provider”). By using the Add-In, you agree to these terms.
2. Service Description
Alfrodin is an Office Add-In for Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint that enables integration with Alfresco Content Services. The Add-In allows browsing, saving, and managing documents in Alfresco directly from Microsoft Office applications. Communication generally takes place as a direct connection between the Office application and the user’s Alfresco server. Where the configuration of the Alfresco server does not permit a direct connection, requests are relayed to the user’s Alfresco server through a server of the Provider, encrypted in transit; the Provider does not store any documents or content in the process.
3. Free Trial Period (30 Days)
Every Alfrodin license purchased through Microsoft Marketplace or Digistore24 includes a 30-day free trial starting on the date of purchase. During the trial period, the full range of features is available and no billing occurs. No separate trial sign-up is required - the trial is part of the purchased license. After the 30 days, the subscription automatically continues as a paid subscription at the selected plan price. The user may cancel at any time during or after the trial through the respective payment provider. The statutory right of withdrawal remains unaffected (see §12).
4. License and Right of Use
Upon acquiring a valid license, the user receives a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Add-In in accordance with these terms. The license is per user. Each user who uses the Add-In requires their own license. Transferring licenses to third parties is not permitted.
5. Pricing and Payment
Current prices are available on our website at alfrodin.com. All prices are net prices plus the applicable statutory value-added tax. Billing occurs monthly or annually, depending on the selected billing period. The Provider reserves the right to change prices with 30 days’ notice. Price changes do not apply to already paid periods.
6. Availability
The Provider endeavors to ensure the most uninterrupted availability of the Add-In possible. There is no entitlement to uninterrupted availability. The Provider assumes no liability for downtime due to maintenance, technical disruptions, force majeure, or circumstances beyond its control (e.g., unavailability of the user’s Alfresco server).
7. User Obligations
The user agrees to:
• use the Add-In only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these terms;
• keep their access credentials confidential and protect them from third-party access;
• not decompile, disassemble, reverse-engineer, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of the Add-In;
• not reproduce, distribute, or make the Add-In accessible to third parties;
• not use automated systems that use the Add-In in a manner that excessively burdens the infrastructure.
8. Data Protection
The protection of your personal data is important to us. For details on how we process your data, please refer to our Privacy Policy. With a direct connection, the Add-In does not route any documents or content through the Provider’s servers; communication then takes place directly between your browser and your Alfresco server. If the configuration of your Alfresco server does not permit a direct connection, requests are relayed through a server of the Provider solely in encrypted transit; documents, content, and credentials are never stored by the Provider. For details, please refer to the Privacy Policy.
9. Intellectual Property
All rights to the add-in, including all copyrights, trademark rights and other intellectual property rights, remain with the provider. The license grants the user no ownership of the add-in or its components. "Alfrodin" is a registered trademark of Matthias Bauernberger Software; the Alfrodin name, logo and all associated trademarks are protected property of the provider.
10. Liability
The Provider is fully liable for intent and gross negligence, as well as for damages arising from injury to life, body, or health. In cases of slight negligence, the Provider is only liable for breach of a material contractual obligation (cardinal obligation), limited in amount to the foreseeable, typically occurring damage.
The Provider is not liable for:
• Data loss resulting from the use of the Add-In;
• Damages caused by the unavailability of the user’s Alfresco server;
• Damages caused by unauthorized third-party access to the user’s systems;
• Indirect damages, consequential damages, or lost profits.
The above limitations of liability do not apply insofar as mandatory Austrian or EU law provides for more extensive liability, in particular under the Product Liability Act (PHG).
11. Warranty
The Add-In is provided “as is” within the scope of technical possibilities. The Provider warrants the substantially error-free functioning of the Add-In in accordance with the current documentation. No warranty is given for fitness for a particular purpose, compatibility with all system configurations, or uninterrupted, error-free use. Warranty rights are governed by the statutory provisions of Austrian law.
12. Right of Withdrawal
Consumers have the right to withdraw from the contract within 14 days without giving any reason. The withdrawal period is 14 days from the date of conclusion of the contract. To exercise the right of withdrawal, send a clear statement (e.g. by email to office@mbasoft.at) to: Matthias Bauernberger Software, Matthias Bauernberger, Georg-Erber-Straße 10, 4060 Leonding, Austria. To meet the deadline, it is sufficient to send the communication before the expiry of the withdrawal period. In the event of withdrawal, we will refund all payments received without undue delay and no later than 14 days from the date we receive your withdrawal notice. The refund will be made using the same means of payment you used for the original transaction. The right of withdrawal expires prematurely if you have expressly consented to the commencement of the service before expiry of the withdrawal period and have simultaneously confirmed your knowledge of the loss of the right of withdrawal upon complete fulfilment of the contract.
13. Cancellation
The subscription may be cancelled by either party at any time at the end of the current billing period. After cancellation, the license remains active until the end of the paid period. The Provider is entitled to terminate the user agreement with immediate effect if the user violates these terms. Refund conditions are subject to the terms of the respective payment service provider (Microsoft Marketplace or Digistore24).
14. Changes to the Terms
The Provider reserves the right to amend these terms of service. Material changes will be communicated to users by email at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Add-In after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
15. Severability Clause
If any provision of these terms of service is or becomes invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain unaffected. The invalid provision shall be replaced by a valid provision that most closely reflects the economic purpose of the invalid provision.
16. Applicable Law and Jurisdiction
Austrian law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) and the conflict-of-laws rules of private international law. The courts of competent jurisdiction in Linz, Austria, shall have exclusive jurisdiction for all disputes arising from or in connection with these terms.
For consumers within the meaning of the Consumer Protection Act (KSchG), the mandatory provisions of consumer law apply. The place of jurisdiction for consumers is determined by statutory provisions.
The EU Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform was discontinued on 20 July 2025 (EU Regulation 2024/3228). A directory of consumer dispute resolution entities is available at: European Commission - Consumer Complaints.
